High School Visual Arts – Art II and Art III

The Goodpasture High School Art II and III program is designed to give all students the knowledge and competence they need to produce work in a wide variety of media including graphite, pen/ink, watercolor, acrylic, sculpture, and clay. The classes are designed to ensure that each student will learn the necessary fundamental skills to produce quality, professional work. The second and third-year curriculum is designed to build on the student’s fundamental skills that were developed in the previous years. These students also produce comprehensive portfolios of their work. Many of these students continue their art careers in college in areas such as commercial art, architecture, computer graphics, interior design, and education. In addition, every other year, all high school art students have the opportunity to travel to New York City for art education, entertainment, and shopping.  The group makes several stops on their exciting three-day trip including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Art Museum and a couple of Broadway shows. The next New York trip is scheduled for winter 2009.
